There are a wide variety of grants, low and/or no interest loans, economic incentives, and cost recovery mechanisms available in the financial “toolboxes” that have been established by the States of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as the Federal government, for abandoned or under-utilized properties with known or suspected contamination, referred to as Brownfields. These tools are designed to enhance the financial viability of contaminated property redevelopment to help fuel economic development in urban areas across the Tri-State area.

Alone or in combination, these tools can be effectively and creatively used to offset the cost of environmental investigation, remediation, and/or property acquisition for projects that meet eligibility criteria.
